This historic 15th Century Coaching Inn is situated in the picturesque Market Town of Stony Stratford, The Town on The Road.The Cock Hotel rose to national pre-eminence in the great age of coach travel, with as many as 100 coaches a day coming into the Town. The Hotel was the official staging post for the famous Manchester Flier. An original timetable shows that the Flier left London at 8.30am, arriving in Manchester at 5.10am the next day with a 25 minute stop here at the Cock Hotel for dinner. Other travellers staying at the Hotel and the adjacent Bull, vied with each other in the telling of outrageous tales of the road, from whence the famous phrase a Cock and Bull Story derives.Dine in our bar or lounge areas. Take the M1 to J15.Turn right at the first roundabout towards Stony Stratford (A508) and take the 2nd turning at the 2nd roundabout. Follow the road for around 10 miles until you get to the A5Stony Stratford roundabout.Take the 2nd turning heading towards Old Stratford. Follow this road which takes you past a set of traffic lights and over a bridge. Take your 2nd right turning, after the bridge, into Ostlers Lane and follow this past the Tennis, Cricket and Football Club and turn right at the 2nd turning and this is the car park at the back of the hotel.
